Georgie’s Story: From Burnout to Building the First Wellness App for Healthcare Workers

The Breaking Point

For years, I did what every good healthcare worker does, put everyone else first.

As a travel nurse during COVID, I gave everything to my patients and my career. I worked over 12 hour shifts, skipped meals, and ran on caffeine and flight or fight. Over time, the exhaustion and adrenaline fatigue caught up to me. I had gained 20 pounds, my energy was gone, and I didn’t even recognize myself anymore.

When my last contract ended, I decided to move back home to California to start over mentally, physically, and emotionally. But even after I got home, I still felt disconnected from my body. I knew I needed help.

That moment sitting at home, reconsidering my career, realizing I couldn’t keep living this way was my turning point.


The Wake-Up Call

I decided to take control of my health. I impulsively hired an online health coach from Instagram after being inspired by someone else's transformation and committed to showing up for myself again.

For the first time since club soccer, I had structure and accountability. I started strength training 4x/week, following a meal plan, sleeping 7+ hours a night, and checking in daily with my accountability coach, with weekly progress check-ins.

In just four months, I lost all the weight I had gained.

By six months, I was in the best shape of my life mentally, physically, and emotionally.

That experience showed me something powerful: it’s absolutely possible to take care of yourself even with a nurse or healthcare schedule.

Turning Pain Into Purpose

Once I found balance again, I wanted to help other women in healthcare do the same. I hired a business coach and started my own online coaching program specifically for women in healthcare. Most of my clients were nurses just like me who were tired, low energy, and wanting to gain strength and confidence.

Over the next few years, I coached over 200 healthcare workers through fitness, nutrition, and mindset transformation. Seeing their results lit a fire in me. I realized that one-on-one coaching was changing lives but not everyone could afford it.

In 2025, I was honored to be recognized as the Nurse Wellness Advocate of the Year by Nurse.Org, a reminder of how powerful this mission truly is.
